Refit of research laboratories

Refit of research laboratories

  • Construction Management

Polytechnique Montréal’s main pavilion was built in the 60s, and its electrical and mechanical systems were neither safe nor reliable. This was considerably limiting research potential activities. Therefore, Polytechnique Montréal decided to completely renovate the Chemistry and Mechanics departments, to eventually permit industrial-type experiments in its facilities, including the development of new materials. In July 2014, Polytechnique Montréal signed an agreement with the Ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et des Exportations (Economy, Innovation and Exports Department) to go ahead with the necessary works. The complete rehabilitation of those laboratories, located on several floors and in two buildings, include:

  • Renovation and fit-up of the 2ndfloor, Block F (research laboratories);
  • Renovation of the electrical infrastructure;
  • Renovation, fit-up and acquisition of equipment, 1stFloor, Block A (Engineering and Mechanics laboratories);
  • Renovation and fit-up of the 5th and 6th floors, Block F;
  • Renovation and fit-up of the 4th Floor, Block F.
