Renovation of the Saint-Sulpice library

Renovation of the Saint-Sulpice library

  • Construction Management
  • Quantity surveying

Inaugurated in 1915, the Saint-Sulpice Library is the oldest French public library in Montréal. Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (Quebec Library and National Archives) undertakes its transformation to implement media creation, manufacturing laboratories, and a library especially adapter for teenagers. This transformation combines the architectural heritage of the current library, with new and innovative technology, while remaining at the heart of the community. Even more, this project will give back its former nobility to this major historical building, while making it an unavoidable leader in urban sustainable development. The project includes:

  • A library especially designed for teenagers, with a varied collection of novels, music, comic books and games, as well as an array of activities focussing on their interests. The teens will have access to new technologies to achieve their projects, and this, in open areas where circulation if fluid.
  • An innovation laboratory, which will be a community and creative start-up workspace, will provide access to top of the edge technologies, allowing the manufacturing of prototypes.
