Phase IV Requalification – Institut de Tourisme et d’Hôtellerie du Québec

Phase IV Requalification - Institut de Tourisme et d'Hôtellerie du Québec

  • Project Management
  • Construction management

The ITHQ stood apart from other hotel schools with its special educational facilities, including a 42-room commercial and educational hotel, two restaurants, three meeting and banquet halls, and an expertise and research centre.

Thanks to government investment, ITHQ has been undergoing a major transformation since 2003. Together with the Société québécoise des infrastructures (SQI), it has undertaken a vast building requalification program. The first three phases were carried out in 2013, totalling $51.2 million.

Phase IV, for which SQI has given Macogep a project management and construction management mandate, comprises renovation of the primary electromechanical systems and five separate spaces:

  • Paul-Émile Lévesque Room (2nd floor): modernization of the bar and service area with lighting, interior finishes, and space enhancement;
  • Educational Culinary Workshops (3rd floor): expansion of the premises to increase the number of student workstations in a safer environment; redesign of the premises, including replacement of equipment, and improvement of major functional aspects, such as temperature consistency;
  • Media Centre (1st floor): renovation of facilities to provide users with modern tools and equipment adapted to that specific type of education;
  • Reception Rooms (6th floor): modernization adapted to the current context of banquets, conferences and seminars; renovation of the kitchen, offices and washrooms;
  • Ground floor: improvement of premises safety, and relocation of the reception/information desk, to increase visual connection on all accesses.
