Upgrading of Howie-Morenz arena – Montréal

Municipal arenas upgrading support programs

  • Project management

The City of Montréal owns a network of 40 indoor skating rinks, in 34 arenas or sports complexes. Pursuant to the Montréal Protocol, the Canadian Environmental Protection Act and Quebec’s Air and Environment Quality Act, the City of Montréal must replace all Freon refrigeration systems (HCFC-22) by 2020. The City hires Macogep to bring the Howie-Morenz arena up to standard. Macogep must manage all stakeholders to successfully carry out the project while minimizing the impact of work on the arena’s users and activities. A masterful contribution by Macogep, making it possible to carry out the project within budget and on schedule.
