The objective of the project at Hôpital de Gatineau, within the CSSS de Gatineau, is to consolidate radiotherapy and oncology departments. One way to achieve this goal is to maximize the existing use of space. Another way is to allow the optimal consolidation of hospital operations. This project is worth $33.5M and comprises an expansion of 3300 m² and refitting works covering 700 m². Included in these jobs is the shielding of the bunker area housing radiation oncology materials. Thus, the bunker requires a large quantity of concrete. The Société Québécoise des Infrastructures entrusts Macogep to act as a cost controller in charge of the estimate preparation for the design, preliminary and final plans and specifications. Macogep has to make sure the concepts meet the budget and the needs. As a consequence, a budget overrun has been detected and project rationalization solutions have been identified.
